What CAD Program Should I Use?

I want to purchase a good CAD or drawing program for my woodshop to draw cabinets and other projects. Please give me your opinion. Thanks -- Wayne Pierson

CAD DrawingChris Marshall: I've used a vector-based CAD program for years to draw projects, and it was expensive. I bought the software when there weren't many options for woodworkers, and now it's too expensive for me to justify updating it to the latest version. I'm planning to give Google's SketchUp a try real soon. Our art director uses it to draw the projects you see in the print magazine, and he seems satisfied with its results and ease of use. Even better, the basic version of the software is free. I suggest you give it a try before investing more money. It might work well for you, too. It's certainly getting good "buzz" from many woodworkers these days.

Tim Inman: Sorry - not much help on this one. I'm still a pencil guy for most drawings.
